Pakistan will proceed to the laying of the TAPI pipeline in the nearest future

Welding of the 1st joints on the 819-kilometer segment of Pakistan’s transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India may take place in the next couple of months.

This was reported by Pakistan’s leading newspaper Dawn with reference to high-ranking officials from the company Inter State Gas Systems (ISGS) participating in the project.

According to a source from ISGS, the TAPI pipeline will be built in Pakistan in June-mid-July this year. Contractors and specialists involved in the project have already been mobilized in the field of the upcoming ceremony in Chaman and Quetta, Baluchistan province.

ISGS confirmed the completion of the Pakistani side of the geotechnical report, radar and topographic surveys. Financial issues have also been resolved.

Currently, Turkmenistan is at the final stage of laying its section of the gas pipeline. In Afghanistan, where the practical part of the project started at the end of February, the construction of 2 compressor stations continues. Various preparatory procedures are also under way in India.
