Arab companies want to participate in gas production on the Sudanese shelf
This was told by the Acting Minister of Energy and Oil of Sudan.
A number of Arab companies are interested in investing in the development of gas fields on the Sudanese shelf in the Red Sea. Algerian and Sudanese state oil and gas companies Sonatrach and Sudapet have already signed a memorandum on joint gas exploration and production in Sudan.
“We are very interested in developing our relations with Algeria, which is a very important oil-producing country in the Arab world and in Africa,” said Acting Minister of Energy and Oil of Sudan Mohamed Abdallah. So, over the past six months or earlier, negotiations were held “with a very large European oil company on the issue of investments in the oil and gas sector of Sudan.” They are interested, but so far there is only an agreement to continue negotiations.
According to Abdullah, Sudan’s oil and gas reserves are concentrated on 26 deposits, including areas that have not yet been developed. Tenders are planned to be announced for a number of these fields, and the country is ready to conduct direct negotiations with any investor who meets the criteria and has financial and technical capabilities.
