Iran sends 1 mln barrels of oil to Austria’s OMV in spot delivery

16 September 2016

Austria’s OMV said on Friday it received 1 million barrels of crude oil from Iran in a spot delivery at the Italian port of Trieste which the energy group will send to its two refineries in Austria and Romania.
The delivery was Iran’s first to OMV since 2012, when sanctions were imposed on the country. OMV is in talks with Iran about future deliveries, although no such contract has been signed yet.

After lifting of sanctions Iran signed contracts with large European companies for crude oil delivery, including Italian companies Saras and Iplom, Spanish Repsol and Greek Hellenic Petroleum.

In August 2016 National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) delivered to Polish Grupa Lotos 2 million barr (300000 tons) of oil in testing mode.
In July 2016 South Korea, Japan, China and India imported 1,64 million barr/day of oil from Iran.

Iran is already very close to its export volumes existed prior to sanctions by increasing for more than 2 million barr/day it in August 2016.
National Iranian Oil Company plans to sign an agreement with Swiss trader Vitol for oil and NGL export.
